ECR KApunda Cloudtour

The Historic Kapunda Copper Mine originally operated between 1844 and 1916 and played a significant role in the history and development of South Australia.  Environmental Copper Recovery (ECR), together with the CSIRO and the University of Adelaide, are investigating the viability of recovering the remaining copper from the mine.  They are researching the potential to use In-Situ Recovery (ISR) to extract the copper.  Unlike many traditional mining methods, ISR has very limited visual impact, but most people do not know much about the method.

ECR was looking for an interactive and informative way to show a wide range of stakeholders and interested parties what the potential ISR site might look like at Kapunda.  The solution needed to deliver key points of information to all users, but also allow people to explore different parts of the site themselves.

The custom CloudTour begins with an introductory video which provides an overview of the project and delivers key messages to the user.  From the menu, users can choose to explore the ‘View from above’, ‘At ground level’ or ‘Below the surface’.  When viewing from above, the user can see the potential ISR trial locations and then see a rendered image of the trial.  Another video, ‘Copper ISR Explainer’ was also created to explain what is happening below the surface during the trial.  The tour is compatible with desktop, mobile and tablets.  An offline app was created for ECR to use when at expos, meetings or when on the road with restricted internet.

“ISR has the potential to be a game changer in the mining industry”

Seppeltsfield Village Virtual Tour

In an Australian first, historic wine estate Seppeltsfield Barossa have launched a revolutionary solution to guarantee wine authenticity and to trigger consumer engagement.  The technology developed by YPG Group – NFC Vintail – uses microchip with rolling code technology embedded into every bottle of Seppeltsfield’s new ‘Grounds’ range of wines, 2017 ‘The Westing’ and ‘The Northing’ Shiraz.

Using the technology, buyers can determine if the product has been opened, identifying possible prior tampering.  It also provides users with an immersive 360-degree experience.

In collaboration Tucker Creative, the Seppeltsfield 360 Virtual Tour highlights the internationally-renowned Seppeltsfield Barossa Village and surrounding vineyards.  Users are taken on a tour of the estate with Executive Chairman, Warren Randall, including the iconic Avenue of Hopes and Dreams.

The custom CloudTour utilises both ground 360° and aerial 360° video to provide a unique perspective of the estate.  Multi-language subtitles are built-in and when accessed in China, will automatically display Chinese subtitles.

Rottnest Express

Virtual Tour

The Rottnest Express virtual tour takes customers on a trip across to Rottnest Island and features a 360-degree tour of the boats, terminals and the stunning features of the island. This CloudTour makes the most of high quality 360 photography to create a unique tourism marketing tool.

The REX CloudTour needed to not only show the boat options and facilities but also be easy to use and navigate on desktop, mobile and tablet. We incorporated an easy to follow user interface with a simple menu to navigate to different boats, tours and island highlights. Keen attention to detail and the quality of the images were important for this CloudTour, including capturing on a beautiful, sunny day.

The tour is accessible via a URL link, meaning it can be added to a website, shared on social media or distributed and used by customers and travel agents worldwide. Offline versions of the virtual tour were also supplied so it could be accessed on tablet devices at a trade exhibition.

Rottnest Express couldn’t be happier with the 360 degree project Lateral Vision (Alex) recently finished for our business. The work was completed in a professional and very timely efficient manner with minimal direction provided by us. Alex has made it possible for our customers to get a real feel for the experience and service that we offer and has exceeded all expectations. Many Thanks!!

Adelaide oval Cloudtour

Together with Tucker Creative we have created the Adelaide Oval Virtual Tour. Adelaide Oval had the difficulty of showing the different function rooms available to prospective clients through existing methods using imagery and video alone. They needed a better way to showcase the various function rooms available, views of those rooms and how those rooms can be configured for different types of events that can be held.

Using CloudTour, our virtual tour platform, we have provided a solution that gives users the ability to view the various function rooms from anywhere in the world through a computer, mobile phone or using a VR headset. This CloudTour was built around four key objectives;
  ● Explore the different function rooms of Adelaide Oval,
  ● Change the room setup using a toggle feature to alternate view between the differently configured rooms,
  ● Information icons to highlight key features of rooms,
  ● VR capability using cardboard headsets.

The tour starts with an aerial 360-degree image captured with a drone. Here users are able to gain a birds-eye view of the oval and see the locations of the various function rooms in relation to the oval and stands. The aerial view also serves to show interstate and international visitors the close proximity of Adelaide Oval to the CBD and reinforces the notion of Adelaide Oval being widely regarded as one of the most picturesque sporting venues in the world.

At ground level the William Magarey, Ian McLachlan and the Cathedral Rooms have been captured in multiple configurations at the same points so that users can see the rooms in banquet, conference and meeting setups with the press of a button. Special attention has been placed on ensuring that imagery loads quickly across all devices so various compression and multi-resolution loading techniques have been implemented.

The Adelaide Oval CloudTour is unique and one of the first of its type. Lateral Vision are excited to work with a company that is looking to incorporate innovative marketing techniques into their business. We are looking forward to further building upon the tour to include greater functionality and include more rooms.

Great Southern Rail virtual tour

The Great Southern Rail virtual tour is used to show the interior of the Indian Pacific and The Ghan trains. Operating across Australia, these trains take travellers to parts of Australia that no other holiday can match. Traditional photography techniques could not accurately portray the train interiors due to the limited field-of-view. Using 360-degree photography, we were able to capture the various cabins and dining carts in their entirety, including options to switch between day and night to see the beds in the up and down positions.

Now embedded onto the Great Southern Rail website, the tour receives hundreds of visits each day with high levels of engagement from visitors all around the world. Thanks to the CloudTour Content Distribution Network (CDN), delivering the tour to a global audience through a globally distributed network of servers is accomplished, allowing visitors from around the world to experience the train with speedy load times.

The Great Southern Rail CloudTour allows users to explore the stunning accommodation provided on both The Gahn and The Indian Pacific Trains, as well as the various off train experiences.
