Adelaide oval Cloudtour

Together with Tucker Creative we have created the Adelaide Oval Virtual Tour. Adelaide Oval had the difficulty of showing the different function rooms available to prospective clients through existing methods using imagery and video alone. They needed a better way to showcase the various function rooms available, views of those rooms and how those rooms can be configured for different types of events that can be held.

Using CloudTour, our virtual tour platform, we have provided a solution that gives users the ability to view the various function rooms from anywhere in the world through a computer, mobile phone or using a VR headset. This CloudTour was built around four key objectives;
  ● Explore the different function rooms of Adelaide Oval,
  ● Change the room setup using a toggle feature to alternate view between the differently configured rooms,
  ● Information icons to highlight key features of rooms,
  ● VR capability using cardboard headsets.

The tour starts with an aerial 360-degree image captured with a drone. Here users are able to gain a birds-eye view of the oval and see the locations of the various function rooms in relation to the oval and stands. The aerial view also serves to show interstate and international visitors the close proximity of Adelaide Oval to the CBD and reinforces the notion of Adelaide Oval being widely regarded as one of the most picturesque sporting venues in the world.

At ground level the William Magarey, Ian McLachlan and the Cathedral Rooms have been captured in multiple configurations at the same points so that users can see the rooms in banquet, conference and meeting setups with the press of a button. Special attention has been placed on ensuring that imagery loads quickly across all devices so various compression and multi-resolution loading techniques have been implemented.

The Adelaide Oval CloudTour is unique and one of the first of its type. Lateral Vision are excited to work with a company that is looking to incorporate innovative marketing techniques into their business. We are looking forward to further building upon the tour to include greater functionality and include more rooms.

Great Southern Rail virtual tour

The Great Southern Rail virtual tour is used to show the interior of the Indian Pacific and The Ghan trains. Operating across Australia, these trains take travellers to parts of Australia that no other holiday can match. Traditional photography techniques could not accurately portray the train interiors due to the limited field-of-view. Using 360-degree photography, we were able to capture the various cabins and dining carts in their entirety, including options to switch between day and night to see the beds in the up and down positions.

Now embedded onto the Great Southern Rail website, the tour receives hundreds of visits each day with high levels of engagement from visitors all around the world. Thanks to the CloudTour Content Distribution Network (CDN), delivering the tour to a global audience through a globally distributed network of servers is accomplished, allowing visitors from around the world to experience the train with speedy load times.

The Great Southern Rail CloudTour allows users to explore the stunning accommodation provided on both The Gahn and The Indian Pacific Trains, as well as the various off train experiences.

Tonsley Innovation District virtual tour

The Tonsley Innovation District virtual tour is used to show the new and exciting redevelopment on the old Mitsubishi site in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. One challenge with the ongoing redevelopment is to explain and showcase the precinct in a way that is as innovative and unique as the businesses and projects within it. Initially, the shared vision was to capture a virtual tour for Google Street View. Following the success of that project, Renewal SA returned and the vision was expanded to build an interactive site CloudTour and in particular, to engage an international audience during a delegation tour to Europe with custom branded Google Cardboard headsets.

The custom CloudTour begins with an aerial panorama which captures and gives context to the entire site by incorporating map pins and a menu for navigation. Using our 360-degree rendered images, users can view future plans of the precinct (Tenancy 4 and Ageing Well Living Lab). The Tonsley Innovation Precinct corporate video is incorporated into the tour (MAB – Central Forest).

The tour is compatible with desktop, mobile and Google Cardboard headsets. Custom branding is used throughout to match their brand guide. It will be continually updated as the precinct grows and changes.
