Seppeltsfield Village Virtual Tour

In an Australian first, historic wine estate Seppeltsfield Barossa have launched a revolutionary solution to guarantee wine authenticity and to trigger consumer engagement.  The technology developed by YPG Group – NFC Vintail – uses microchip with rolling code technology embedded into every bottle of Seppeltsfield’s new ‘Grounds’ range of wines, 2017 ‘The Westing’ and ‘The Northing’ Shiraz.

Using the technology, buyers can determine if the product has been opened, identifying possible prior tampering.  It also provides users with an immersive 360-degree experience.

In collaboration Tucker Creative, the Seppeltsfield 360 Virtual Tour highlights the internationally-renowned Seppeltsfield Barossa Village and surrounding vineyards.  Users are taken on a tour of the estate with Executive Chairman, Warren Randall, including the iconic Avenue of Hopes and Dreams.

The custom CloudTour utilises both ground 360° and aerial 360° video to provide a unique perspective of the estate.  Multi-language subtitles are built-in and when accessed in China, will automatically display Chinese subtitles.

TAFE SA Virtual Reality Training

The TAFE SA virtual reality experience is an interactive and immersive tool for current TAFE SA Air-conditioning and Refrigeration students. The VR experience gives students access to areas they otherwise can’t visit, this can be due to safety restrictions, ease of access and capacity limitations. The plants visited are often extremely loud and compact, which provides issues in itself.

Lateral Vision visited these locations to film and capture the audio for the training material with TAFE SA lecturers Shannon and Sheamus. Sheamus was able to speak clearly to the camera as if it were a student and give a detailed uninterrupted explanation of the plant and various key aspects, Sheamus was able to do this with just himself and the camera in the room as we monitored from outside the plant.

Stereoscopic capturing has been used to give the students a realistic representation of depth and size to add another level of immersion. Everything has been designed with the user in mind to give students the most immersive and valuable experience we can. The experience has been rolled out in the TAFE SA Tonsley campus using the newly released Lenovo Mirage headsets.

Lateral Vision has been working closely with TAFE SA and Lecturer Shannon Baldock to create something new and innovative to further train students, as a result, the VR training experience has been gaining some public recognition.

Tonsley Innovation District virtual tour

The Tonsley Innovation District virtual tour is used to show the new and exciting redevelopment on the old Mitsubishi site in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. One challenge with the ongoing redevelopment is to explain and showcase the precinct in a way that is as innovative and unique as the businesses and projects within it. Initially, the shared vision was to capture a virtual tour for Google Street View. Following the success of that project, Renewal SA returned and the vision was expanded to build an interactive site CloudTour and in particular, to engage an international audience during a delegation tour to Europe with custom branded Google Cardboard headsets.

The custom CloudTour begins with an aerial panorama which captures and gives context to the entire site by incorporating map pins and a menu for navigation. Using our 360-degree rendered images, users can view future plans of the precinct (Tenancy 4 and Ageing Well Living Lab). The Tonsley Innovation Precinct corporate video is incorporated into the tour (MAB – Central Forest).

The tour is compatible with desktop, mobile and Google Cardboard headsets. Custom branding is used throughout to match their brand guide. It will be continually updated as the precinct grows and changes.

Archery VR

As Inaugural Entrepreneur in Residence for the State Library of South Australia, Lateral Vision has worked closely with the library education and public program team to design, build and deliver a custom virtual reality archery game. School students and visitors to the library can engage with the traditional Chinese teachings of archery in an immersive VR experience.

The State Library of South Australia is host to the One Mountain, One River, One Sage: Treasures from the Shandong Library exhibition.  The exhibition tells the stories of Shandong Province through rare pieces including ancient books, calligraphy tools, press plates and stone rubbings.  To complement the exhibition, the library has a series of education activations around the teachings of Confucius, including the skill of archery and its role in developing focus and concentration.

The user is transported to a 3D modelled environment which is based closely on features from Shandong Province.  After a short tutorial, the player has 2 minutes to aim and fire as many archery bows into circular targets as possible.  The location, UI/UX, modelled environment and music were all carefully selected with the assistance of the State Library and their Chinese partners for the exhibition.

For this exhibition, we have chosen to develop for the Oculus Go headset.  This headset offers an immersive VR game experience, without the need for a PC connection.
